Leo showed up to his winter garden session exactly like he shows up to life: calm, solid, and quietly wonderful.
At 14, he’s got the balance thing figured out. He loves adventure. Chasing a ball. Hiking. Road trips. Plane trips in his very own harness and headphones. And when he’s done? He’s perfectly happy curled up in the warmest spot he can find, ideally near a fireplace or tucked in next to his people.
Leo’s priorities are refreshingly clear:
The ball routine before dinner, right around happy hour, is not optional. He will remind you.
He’s the strong, silent type. A little grunt if something’s going on outside. A soft bark when needed. Loud only if it really matters. He’s traveled more than most dogs we know, from Canada to all over the Pacific Northwest, with plenty of road trips and flights along the way. But his favorite place of all? A beach, a ball, and open space. Pacific City and Cannon Beach are hard to beat.
Leo’s Gotcha Day started quietly. He had just arrived at the Oregon Humane Society after being transferred from a shelter in Los Angeles. He was in the far back of the kennel, resting on a PVC-framed bed, not too interested in the chaos around him. Then Mark crinkled a candy wrapper. That did it. Leo got up, came forward, and checked things out.
He was beautiful. Calm. The right age.
One walk, a short run in the yard, and they knew.
They’ve been adventuring together ever since.
