Santa Paws’ Farewell Tour marked the end of an eleven-year tradition, but it also opened the door to something unexpected. I asked families to write letters to Santa Paws, and what they shared became a collection of gratitude, hope, and love. These letters are a reflection of the magic created here, one pet, one family, and one moment at a time.
Dear Santa,
My mom tells me I am sassy, and she is often telling me no.
But I think I am a very good boy who deserves all the treats, toys, and attention.
Please visit me this year.
I’ll be waiting.
Love,
Boone
Dear Santa Paws,
I would love for all doggies in rescue to find a home of their own
and be part of a pack forever this Christmas.
Love,
Millie
Dear Santa Paws,
We would like more treats.
(Always more treats.)
And we would also like to request that Mom does not leave for two-week vacations.
That part feels important.
Love,
Lacey, Benji & Ollie
Dear Santa,
Thank you for taking pictures with us all of these years.
We may act scared sometimes, but we know you’re really a good guy.
This year, we want to make sure that all the dogs who don’t have homes get homes, treats, and love for Christmas.
We know we have a pretty good life
(despite the fact that Mom and Dad take up way too much room in OUR bed).
Be that as it may, we are lucky pups.
And we want all dogs to have a safe and loving home.
Also, could you please get our parents an XXXXL king-size bed?
They’re nice and all, but wow do they cramp our style at night.
Love,
Mia, Dottie, Millie & Ryder
Dear Santa,
I do not have nearly enough toys at my house.
And definitely not enough things to chew.
I love to chew.
I could use a sled load of bully sticks, for sure.
And I would also love a dog dryer to help me get dry faster after I play fetch in the river.
I really love the water.
Thanks loads,
Zack
Dear Santa,
Please bring more treats
and more toys.
Thank you.
Love,
Cash & Lyra
Dear Santa,
Patrón would like everything purple.
All of it. No substitutions.
El Jefe would like to rule the world.
He feels ready.
Love,
Patrón & El Jefe
As Santa Paws takes his final bow, what remains are the moments created in that chair and the memories that now live far beyond the studio walls. These letters remind me that Santa Paws was never really about the suit or the set. He was about making space for joy, for connection, and for pets to be exactly who they are. While this chapter has come to a close, the tradition of celebrating the bond we share with our animals continues, quietly and lovingly, in new ways. Thank you for trusting me with these moments, these words, and this season of magic.
