Buddy in the Lavender

Buddy in the Lavender

Midsummer settles over the Willamette Valley in shades of purple.

By July, the soft blossoms of spring have given way to long rows of lavender, their color deepening beneath the summer sun. At Wayward Winds Lavender, the fields stretch across the landscape in ribbons of violet, green, and silver.

The air carries the clean, herbal fragrance of the plants while bees move steadily from bloom to bloom. It is a quieter kind of color—orderly rows, warm light, and a season that seems content to linger.

Right Where He Belongs

Buddy looked perfectly at home among the lavender.

His black-and-white coat stood out against the soft purple rows as he explored the field, paused among the blooms, and lifted his face toward the summer air. Relaxed and quietly content, Buddy seemed to understand that this particular adventure was meant to be savored.

For a dog who began as a foster, it felt like a fitting portrait of the life he found: surrounded by beauty, loved completely, and right where he belongs.

From Foster to Family

Buddy first arrived as a foster named Larry. Since Larry was also his foster dad’s name, the family began calling him Buddy—and he caught on quickly.

After losing their previous dog, they had sworn they wouldn’t adopt again. But Buddy quietly changed the plan. They grew attached, knowing no one could give him a better life, and their foster dog became family.

Today, Buddy’s life is filled with camping trips, walks, toys, chews, and plenty of treats. He serves as a store mascot and attends doggy daycare each week, keeping his social skills polished and his calendar full.

Every Story Begins Somewhere

For Buddy, it began with a temporary name and a foster home that wasn’t supposed to be permanent.

4 All MuttKind gave him the bridge he needed—a safe place to land while his next chapter took shape. Somewhere along the way, “Larry” became Buddy, fostering became family, and a dog who needed a home found exactly where he belonged.

Every adoption creates space for another dog to be rescued, fostered, and given the chance to begin again.
